November staged reading
Beacon Theatre Productions is excited to produce a staged reading of “When the Truth Comes Out,” written and directed by Terri Lyons, a play about a fictional encounter of the leaders of the Civil Rights movement.

DAISY BATES - Black woman. Stately but not soft spoken. She says what she means, and she means what she says.
JO ANN ROBINSON - Black woman. Petit. Distinct southern accent. Direct and to the point.
PAULI MURRAY - Black non-binary person. Direct, feisty. Unapologetically honest. Impatient at times
ELLA BAKER - Black woman. Preachy but profound and at times a little loud. Matronly in style.
FANNIE LOU HAMER - Black woman. Empathetic heart and robust spirit. Enjoys a good laugh.
BARBARA JORDAN - Black woman. Conservative dress. Over emphasizes speech.
SHIRLEY CHISHOLM - Black woman. Loves a good time. Stresses her point of view. Laughs out loud.
PATRICIA HARRIS - Black woman. Smiles, but rarely laughs. Serious nature.
CONSTANCE BAKER MOTLEY - Black woman. Reserved and low key. Laughs quietly.
How to Apply:
All actors regardless of experience level or any other factor are encouraged to apply. Participants would need the technology to rehearse on Zoom and to travel to the Second Baptist Church of Germantown and Central Parkway Library in Philadelphia for rehearsals and performances.
